Aerial Photographs by Kacper Kowalski (Poland)

These photographs are part of Kowalski’s Head Series. “Heads is an educational project dedicated to children aged 3 – 10. Its goal is improve abstract thinking, spatial imagination and teach shifts in perspective.”

Kowalski is a trained architect but appears to fly his mini helicopter around often to capture patterns, natural designs and other abstract beauties from the sky. More here.

Brooklyn Bridge - 1870

I have fond memories of biking over this bridge in the early 90’s to and from work at the Board of Ed. in Brooklyn. Leaving at the same time most days from my lower east side apt., I’d notice the same commuters and we’d often wave to one another. I became very aware that many people, especially in NYC, had very set patterns in their days.

For those interested, here is more fascinating history of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Phil Bolger - Boat Designer / Builder /Innovator

Over his 81 years, Bolger designed more than 600 boats - many called “instant boats” - because of their non-traditional plywood construction. In the early 90’s, my good friend Larry ‘Lars’ Bickford introduced me to a book of Bolger’s designs - needless to say, boat building ensued. See more of his oddly elegant designs here.
