NYTimes Crossword Puzzle

We’ve been working on these Sunday Times puzzles together nearly every weekend for the past 20 years. One thing we’ve noticed is if you get stuck and put it down part-way through, when you resume it feels as if your brain has been quietly working on it in the background - many of the stumpers become obvious.

Rex Parker (self proclaimed - Greatest crossword puzzle solver in the Universe) is often how we check our work. He has a humorous blog that critiques every puzzle - some so harshly, it seems he may need therapy.

See his thorough analysis here.

He says users could even eventually produce the drug in their homes. Read more here.

Vertical Farming

Technology and science have been merging with farming, well, for centuries. However, at this point in time, the art of growing food has taken a leap. Here’s a company that uses 95% less water, no soil or pesticides and LEDs in a repurposed building with high yields of produce.

Ween - Band

Ween is an American alt. rock band from New Hope, PA, formed in 1984 by Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, better known by their respective stage names, Gene and Dean Ween.

I became aware of their highly eclectic catalog of songs in the early 90s and have been a big fan ever since. Listen to Ocean Man here.

Earthships

Typically, Earthships are made using natural and mostly discarded materials (tires, bottles, cans, etc.). Check out this short video demonstrating some of the principles and elements incorporated into many of these organically designed structures - the grey water/vegetable production system is especially smart.
