Treehouses

Several years ago, I was talking with a carpenter at a party about treehouses. He shared that when he was a teen, he and his friends built one about 60ft high - this made his dad slightly uncomfortable so he supplied the kids with a bunch of netting to secure below as a precaution. The kids set it up about 15ft from the base of the tree and spent the summer jumping into it….from the treehouse.

Stewart Brand - Pioneer

Legendary tech and alternative culture guru, Brand (88) has been at the forefront of multiple movements. We Are As Gods (2020 documentary) tries to sum up his accomplishments. See trailer here.

The Whole Earth Catalog is one of my favorite resources to refer back to from time to time, as is How Buildings Learn, both Stewart Brand publications.

Sanborn Camps - Florissant CO

Lots of fantastic memories.

Seth, Cindy, the kids and our family went back this past summer and camped for the weekend. Seth and I got to peel off and hike around and through Big Springs (boys camp). He said that he couldn’t remember many specifics but mostly just the overall good feelings of being there, back in ‘89. I suspect he couldn’t easily recall the events because he was often so presently in the moment.
