IKEA has been at it since 1950 and each year has created a catalogue. The IKEA museum has released a way to see every page of each years’ catalogue since they first started. I recommend you try and find the one of your birth year and see how far (or not) we’ve all come.

It’s very easy, everything you need to know about registration, mail-in, polling places, etc. is here.
Free Flowers
For the past few weeks, Emily (my wife) has been setting out cut flowers from our yard and has been receiving an outpouring of very positive responses.
Post Secret
I love the honesty that comes from this anonymous experiment. See more Post Secrets here.
Cape Falcon Kayaks
This particular kayak is the F1 by Cape Falcon and surprisingly is not fiberglassed, but has a heavy gauge nylon skin with a 2 part urethane. There are many videos available on Youtube, however, here’s a good one to start with if you’d like to learn more.
Engineer Makes Gun that shoots masks onto faces
I give this a solid B+ for inventiveness and fun problem solving. Check out Allen Pan’s enthusiastic video here. We could have used one of these at the grocery store this morning.
Evel Knievel Toy (Re-Release)
Watch this video to see why we begged our mom for one of these toys.
DIY KAYAK
Made of fir branches/strips and skinned in plastic wrap (with a later fiberglass/epoxy option). Can’t wait to try this. See more here.
Cabin (STC Arquitectos)
Shed roof simplicity. See/read more here..
Z Shield Flex
Very counter-intuitive face shield, but makes a lot of sense. Read more here.
Volunteer Garlic
It’s been a big summer for garlic in our yard - first the scapes and then the bulbs.
Swing Girl - Banksy
Love the whitewashed ING and swing ropes tied around the A.
Solarpunk
A friend recently taught me the term Solarpunk. It’s a genre of Speculative Fiction that focuses on a greener and more optimistic future. The “punk” is: that it’s actually going against the grain.
Knot with Scott
Here are really (2) knots I use often. This video came from a family zoom request to share something with the group.
Architects, in a boat, getting adventure
Not a bad idea of something to do during a pandemic. Fix up an old life boat and explore the arctic with a dog named Shackleton. Read more here.
Pallet Space (India) - MOFO Studios
Besides the low-budgetness of this space, the partial green walls and roof(?) are a very nice touch. Check out more of this project here.
THE FIGHT - a documentary about the ACLU
This is the type of documentary I’d like to watch (at this point in time). See trailer here.
Drive-in Movies
Looking forward to the likely massive come-back of this venue type.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Love that the DC Mayor (Muriel Bowser) made this powerful statement happen - it appropriately leads directly toward the White House.
Christo (June 13, 1935 - May 31, 2020) Artist
Christo’s projects were about many things - beyond the wrapping or the highlighting of islands, trees, buildings, etc. they were a way of involving many groups of people in the participation of large scale environmental installations. Christo’s wife and artistic partner, Jean-Claude, died in 2009. See many of their realized works here.
