Harmony Korine - writer/director

Korine is best known for writing Kids (1995) and writing/directing Gummo (1997). His non-linear, fragmented style of storytelling and dark subject matter tends not to be for everyone, however, it’s hard to argue with his boundry-pushing experimentation of film. Read more here.

Richard Nickel - Architectural Photographer 1928-1972

Nickel spent much of his adult life, in Chicago, photographing buildings slated for demo. He was particularly obsessed with capturing Louis Sullivan works and would remove artifacts/details before complete destruction. He would ultimately meet his untimely death when Sullivan’s doomed Stock Exchange Building would collapse while Nickel was inside. See/read more about him here.

Bob Powitz - Artist

Received this driftwood bird in the mail yesterday from my Uncle Bob. I truly love how he sees a second life in things that many others may have passed by. I look forward to seeing where this little bird lands in our house, but for now, it’s on the mantle over the fireplace with some other fun creations.

Jeffrey Gunshol - Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher/Brother

Jeffrey (top left) is one of those inspiring people who has always navigated space(s) in his own specific way. Growing up together in Baltimore, it was clear that that city would be too small to contain him. In our 20s, we lived on and off together in NY where I saw his talents/abilities expand exponentially. Around 2005, after having danced in several cities around the US & Europe he began and continues to teach Dance/Choreography/Performance at Tulane University in New Orleans full time. We look forward to seeing what he’s working on next.

Jumpsuit - Band

Our good friends Nathan and Matthew Tolzmann (and Andrea, wife of Matthew) moved to Chicago years ago and among other things, started (or maybe continued) their band Jumpsuit (not with Andrea, but with their friend Grant). Nathan did the album cover artwork below and here’s a video (Chic-A-Go-Go) from an all ages cable access show - look for Batman.

Alexander Calder - Artist

Calder introduced movement into sculpture, and…some might argue, changed it forever. Love how his sense of proportion, form and the relationships between materials are so singularly identifiable as Calder-esque.
