Kahn’s projects are architectural master works. The two projects I’ve visited so far (Salk Institute and the Exeter Library) made the hair on the back of my neck stand-up. See more about the Salk Institute here.
POST SECRETS - SOCIAL EXPERIMENT
Anonymous personal secrets mailed-in to a guy named Frank, sometimes funny, sometimes tragic. I can’t help but check in here from time to time.
PINA BAUSCH - DANCER / CHOREOGRAPHER
I love the incredible range of dance. See Wim Wender’s dynamic trailer about the work of Pina Bausch.
KELTON OSBORN - ARCHITECT/ARTIST
We love how Kelton Osborn (long-time friend) explores how things fit together. Check out more of his work here.
CINDY SHERMAN - ARTIST
The untitled film stills created by Cindy Sherman are some of my favorites. See more here.
Ralph Fasanella - Artist
This painting was housed in the Folk Art Museum (NYC). I love how it captures the dynamic energy of the sleepless city. Check out more paintings and Ralph Fasanella’s bio here.
Giuseppe Penone - Artist
Years ago, stumbled upon this guys work. He meticulously reveals younger trees hidden within older trees. Love the metaphor. More here.
Sofia Coppola - Filmmaker
She had some big shoes to fill - but has really proven she can make great movies.
Joel Sternfeld - Photographer
He takes large format photographs (which typ. requires a great deal of setup) - I have no idea how he gets these masterfully composed images.
Denver Graffiti
As Denver’s gotten hipper, the graffiti’s gotten more sophisticated and has been popping-up in more places, often commissioned. In this piece, I like how the smoke emminating from the building light fixtures? fills the stair recess and reveals the blackness of space, may need to see this one at night, in case the stars are glow-in-the-dark.
There are plenty of other favorites around 34th & Larimer - I’ll post them throughout the year.
