The Soundtrack Show - Podcast
Okay, I recognize I’m a little obsessed with movies and soundtracks, so I feel like this podcast was made for me. That said, this is such fun analysis and an interesting lesson in music & sound that I think many people would enjoy what show creator/host David W. Collins does here. Listen to his excellent dissection of John Williams Raiders of the Lost Ark (Part ll) soundtrack.
Freakonomics - Book/Podcast
The book was a collaboration between by University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt and NYTimes journalist Stephen J. Dubner. It’s a fascinating look at the study of incentives. Here’s the podcast episode about The Future of Meat.
Movie Crush - Podcast
I’ve really been enjoying this podcast. One person is interviewed about a movie they love, host Chuck Bryant watches it and interesting conversation/analysis ensues. Listen here.
TED Talks
Here’s a TED Talk I’ve been referencing lately about how design matters.
Oliver Sacks - Author, Neurologist
I like these photos of the younger Oliver Sacks, as most of us only became familiar with him as an older soft spoken scientist. His book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, excellently captures his curiosity, humor and compassion. Easily find more about him online.
Radiolab - Podcast and Radio Program
I’ve been listening to this radio show since 2005 and this episode about cats falling out NYC apartment windows and (often) surviving has come up more in conversation than nearly any other story I’ve heard from this program. Here’s the funny and surprising cat story and here is the link to Radiolab.
Love and Radio - Podcast
Intimate, dreamy pieces - hard to turn off. Listen.
SERIAL - PODCAST
This is the podcast that got me hooked on podcasts. It broke-the-record for most listened to audio shows (over 300 million downloads). If you missed it or want to learn more - check it out here.
WTF - Marc Maron Podcast
I’ve been listening to this podcast for roughly the past 6 years (interviews drop on Mon. & Thurs. mornings). Nearly every conversation Marc has with a guest leaves me feeling like I’ve learned more about a stranger and oddly more about myself. Listen
Note: I fast-forward through the first 10-15mins of monologue & ads
